A Visit to the Museum

This beautiful old building used to be a convent, and now houses such memorabilia as the original anchor for Captain Cook's Ship, the Endeavour.

The boys, however, seemed more impressed by Zorro the German Shepherd.
Actually, they seemed a bit more impressed by Zorro's low hanging family jewels.
Zorro was not amused and took himself off to his corner where he sulked for the duration of our visit.

Bush Tucker... Western Style

Cape Tribulation

Glorious place. Of course, this is rainforest country, so we could not expect sunshine all the time.

Sugar

Sugar Trains run all over the place in FNQ (Far North Queensland).

And the cane fields cover a huge portion of the country. Quite beautiful to look at.

Broken!!!!!!!!!

The last part of the drive to Cape Tribulation, and the name lived up to its name. Just after Sticky had declared "Isn't this a lovely adventure!!!" ... we were heading to another of the harmless speed bumps in the road.

No problems with this one, but slow down a bit anyway.
Should be a breeze. Then... W H A C K , B U M P, S C R E E C H !!!!. We stopped very quickly and ran outside to check what had happened.
Naughty Vannie had jumped off the tow bar. We were extremely lucky that nothing had broken and that we had a jack that could raise her back up and onto the tow bar again. Nothing broken inside! Very big sigh of relief!

Let's Go Further North!

The longest pier we have ever, ever seen! At Lucinda, this is the pier that takes the sugar to the tankers.

A Cassowary is obviously incredibly strong and we had to watch out for them trying to pick up the car.
