Cradle Mountain Revisited (With Jen and Bec)

Jen and Rod's daughter Bec has come to Tassie for a few days and I drove from our new campsite at Mole Creek to Cradle Mountain with them. Back to Lake Dove...

Then we went on the "Enchanted Walk"... For Sarah and Margaret Barrett... see if you can see the little pademelon hiding in the bushes!



Back at Mole Creek, Stick and Rod were getting truly stuck into the red wine... they are feeling pretty mellow and the fishing tales grew more and more outrageous.

Little Pine Lagoon

Day Trip to Cradle Mountain

The photos really speak for themselves. We did a two hour walk around Lake Dove at the base of Cradle Mountain. Just beautiful...

A Boat Trip to Hells Gates and the Gordon River

This boat trip is a MUST for anyone going to Strahan. There are two companies offering trips, but "The Eagle" is the one to go for. A local family runs it, and they are just brilliant.

We had the most delicious lunch on board, and the captain treated all passengers as if they were the owners.

Well, the Captain needed a bit of a hand, so I told him I have a boating licence.

Mind you, this is a $5.5 million piece of machinery.

This a Hell's Gate. Only 70m wide and the only entrance to the harbour. In days of yore, sailing ships might have to wait for months to enter.


The Gordon River. Beautiful huon pine rainforest... some of the trees are over 2,000 years old. Sticky scared all participants by declaring he had his chainsaw with him. Greenies were not amused.
