Heave Ho

Sticky decided, after taking "HiHo" (littler boat) over the sandbar and nearly capsizing, that he needs a bigger boat. We have traded HiHo (sob sob) for "HeaveHo" (named by Lisa McBean in honour of Sticky's sicky over the side)...

Here comes Heave Ho for his maiden voyage... (with us, anyway)... he is 20 years old, after all.

He looks quite cute, doesn't he?

Braving a Phobia

I don't like caves. I get a bit claustrophobic in confined spaces. But wanted to face the fear and go and visit the Marakoopa Caves at Mole Creek. Jenny Lees came with me. She was tremendous. I could hang on to her and be "brave" (remembering to breath steadily). It was magnificent! The Cathedral was by far the best. I even sang a little song as the acoustics were so good.

The photos just don't do the place justice. A must visit if you are ever in Mole Creek.
We even saw a platypus on our walk along the creek to the cave entrance.

Getting in and out of the Secret Spot

We put the vannie through its paces accessing the secret spot.

But Sticky managed it in style.
I think the vannie might have been a little relieved when it reached the bitumen

Rod's Lake

We followed Rod and Jen's van all over the countryside... and finally arrived at a secret spot. Can't tell you where it is because (a) I would have to shoot you and (b) wouldn't have a clue as to where it is.
But we were happy to arrive. The place was just gorgeous
Beautiful lake, teaming with brown trout. So we were told.

Sticky showed Rod how to use the float tube.
It was a bit dicey and wobbly for a while
But he quickly got the hang of it, and disappeared off into the distance
And that evening, Sticky justified the trip by catching this beauty. We had this brown trout for dinner the following night. It easily fed four of us and was totally delicious.

Sticky's Folly?

This lovely contraption is a lobster pot. Sticky persuaded some guy to give it to him. Funnily enough, the guy handed it over with great gusto. Sticky wants this as an ornament in our new house. After all, the theme is "The Ocean". I have been MOST LONG SUFFERING in allowing this on my bed whilst we travel around.

Freycinet Peninsular

Oooh. This looks promising! The rain has gone, it is incredibly windy, but that mountain looks great!

Well, we climbed to Wineglass Bay Lookout. Luckily there was this lovely day bed for us to relax on when we got there.
Rod needs a rest too.
Peekaboo!
And here is Wineglass Bay... Beautiful!
Sticky is delighted that he has got here. However... we now have another four hours of walking. No simple return trip for us. No No No! We're gonna do the big walk!
Jen is delighted
Hmmm. Might just hang here for the rest of the day.
Everyone agrees.
But no, the further we go, the better the views. It was a beaut walk
And we found a new friend too!
Wineglass Bay got a huge tick from us. Well worth it. Especially the coffee and cake we had when we returned.

The Spiky Bridge

A spiky bridge built by the convicts... Why would they built it spiky? We just don't know.

Spiky it is though
And spiky it will stay.
Memorable stuff
